We believe that every life has a story to tell and the life of Senior Focused Relocations began with Michele's grandmother, Ethel. After living in her home for many years, Ethel knew it was time to move to a senior community. She asked family members for help because she didn't know where to begin.

There were so many decisions to make: Should she put her house up for sale now or later? How would she search for an independent living community? How would she even find out what was available? What in the world would she do with all her furniture? Who would help her sort through all her belongings? How was she going to physically handle the move?
Ethel was overwhelmed with not just the physical task, but also the emotional strain. Michele had always had a special bond with her grandma, so she stepped in to help. After hours researching independent living communities she narrowed them down to three. She and Grandma Ethel went to see them, then a choice was made. Next they worked together to help Ethel get organized. This is the vital part to making the process run smoothly. Going through years and years of collected belongings with Michele gave Ethel time to share her memories. This made it easier for them to make decisions together about what to move, what her grandmother would give to family members, what to donate to charity, and yes, even what to throw away.
Michele designed a floor plan so they knew what furniture and belongings would fit. On moving day, the movers knew what to move and where to put it upon arrival. While her grandmother relaxed, Michele unpacked all Grandma's belongings and placed them just as they were in the old house. Ethel told her friends all she had to do was pick up her purse, get in the car, and be driven to her new home, which was now comfortable and familiar. She was able to enjoy activities and meet her new neighbors right away. Many of them said they wished someone could have done the same for them.
Michele thought about this need and later shared the idea with Sandy. As they talked the idea for Senior Focused Relocations took shape. From the very beginning the mission statement was set...to be an advocate for the senior. At SFR every client is treated with the care and attention they deserve, just like Grandma Ethel.
